How does Refer a friend work?

Every Yews account has a referral code and a referral link. Share your link, and when someone opens a new account through it, you can earn a commission on their orders.

Share your link

1. Go to Refer a friend, also in Profile under Money.

2. Copy your link, or share it straight from the page.

Your code is 7 characters long and never changes.

What you earn

You earn 5% of the item value of each order your referral:

• pays for as a buyer, or

• receives payment for as a seller,

during the 6 months after they sign up.

Item value is the price of the items after any store discounts. Shipping and buyer protection fees aren't included. For example, if your referral buys R1 000 worth of items, you earn R50.

Commissions are paid by Yews. They never increase what your referral pays or reduce what they receive as a seller.

Who counts as your referral

• They must open a new account within 30 days of last opening your link. If they open someone else's link afterwards, the most recent link counts.

• They must verify their email address before any commission is earned.

• Existing accounts can't be referred, and you can't refer yourself.

When you don't earn

• On orders between you and the person you referred.

• On orders between two people you referred.

• If the order is cancelled or refunded, or the payment is reversed (a chargeback).

When you get paid

1. A commission is pending while your referral's order is in progress.

2. It's confirmed when that order is completed.

3. At the end of each calendar month (South African time), all your confirmed commissions are added up.

4. If they total at least R50, they're paid into your Yews wallet. If not, they roll over to the next month.

You'll get a notification and an email when a referral payout lands in your wallet. It's ordinary wallet money, so you can spend it on Yews or withdraw it to your bank account. See Withdrawing money to your bank account.
