Managing your store discounts

Store discounts let you run your own promotions, such as a sale on prams, a welcome code for new buyers or free shipping over a certain spend. Discounts apply only to your store's items.
Discounts are funded by you. The discount amount comes off your payout, and so does any shipping you cover with a free shipping discount. The buyer protection fee is worked out on the discounted price.
Create a discount
Go to Discounts, also in Profile under Selling.
Tap Create discount and choose a type.
Choose the method: Discount code or Automatic discount.
Set the value, what it applies to and any conditions (see below).
Save.
Discount types
Type | What it does |
|---|---|
Amount off products | Discount specific listings, categories or brands, or all your items |
Amount off order | Discount the whole order |
Buy X get Y | Buy a number of items, or spend an amount, and get other items free or discounted |
Free shipping | Offer free shipping on an order, optionally only on shipping rates up to an amount you set |
Values can be a percentage or a fixed amount. For Amount off products, a fixed amount can come off each item or once per order.
Discount code or automatic
Discount code: buyers type the code into the order summary at checkout. Codes are 3 to 32 characters (letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores) and are unique within your store. Tap Generate for a random code. One discount can have several codes, and you can generate up to 250 at once.
Automatic discount: applies by itself when an order qualifies. Its title is shown to buyers in their cart and at checkout.
How buyers see your discounts
An automatic Amount off products discount for all customers, with no minimum and not limited to one use per customer, shows a Sale badge and the original price struck through on the listings it applies to.
Other automatic discounts show as Deals on the listing page.
Codes are never shown publicly. Share them with your buyers yourself, for example in chat.
Conditions and limits
Setting | Options |
|---|---|
Applies to | All items, specific listings, specific categories (including their sub-categories) or specific brands |
Minimum purchase requirements | None, a minimum purchase amount, or a minimum quantity of items |
Customer eligibility | All customers, specific customers, first-time buyers of your store, or returning buyers of your store |
Maximum discount uses | A limit on total uses, and/or one use per customer |
Combinations | Whether it can be combined with product, order or shipping discounts |
Active dates | A start date and time, and an optional end date, in South African time |
Specific customers are people who've bought from your store before, or an account you find by its exact email address. First-time buyers are people who haven't yet paid for an order from your store.
Combining discounts
Two discounts only combine if each allows the other's type.
An order can have at most one order discount and one free shipping discount.
Buyers can add up to 5 codes to one cart.
Free shipping doesn't apply to local pickup.
Items bought at an agreed offer price don't get product or buy X get Y discounts. Order discounts and free shipping still apply.
Custom checkouts you send in chat don't get any discounts.
Managing your discounts
Your discounts list shows each discount's status: Active, Scheduled (not started yet), Expired or Inactive.
Deactivate a discount to pause it, and Activate it again later.
Edit it to change its settings, or add more codes.
Delete discount to remove it. You can't delete a discount while an unpaid order is using it.
Each discount shows how many times it's been Used, the total Discount amount and the Sales it was part of.
Orders that were paid and later cancelled still count towards a discount's usage limit.
